I am Dori Ray and I am super excited to have opened Soulshine here in one of my favorite places, Saluda, NC! I have lived in the foothills for 15+ years and have practiced massage in the area for over 10! My gratitude for finally snuggling up with my supportive and loving family here in Saluda is deepened by the opportunity to have my business in this awesome, loving and supportive community!
Saluda warmed my heart when I was blessed to begin learning and working at Wildflour Bakery in 2001…the folks there have always soothed my soul! In 2004, I became a Certified and Licensed Massage Therapist and began my practice in Landrum, SC. In the fall of 2004, I had the opportunity to move to Costa Rica and I took it! My 2.5 years abroad taught me to speak Spanish, to slow down, to live mindfully, to live with less and… so much more! After I returned to the states, I became blessedly pregnant and again worked at Wildflour as I re-established my massage business and my life in our community.
Life as a mama is the best! With a new infant, I continued my education and studied Thai Yoga Massage with Sunny Klaber of Integral Travel. I was amazed how wonderful I felt after a weekend of this therapy and decided to include yoga poses with massage therapy to better serve my clients. I have since studied Thai Yoga Massage with Michael Sitzer, formerly of Kripalu, and again with Integral Travel in 2013, when my daughter, Chela, and I traveled to Thailand together for a week of Jungle Yoga and other adventures in Asia…wow!
I tried yoga after I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 1998. I loved it! Over the years, yoga has nestled itself into my life and my heart. Yoga has led me to the discovery of prayer and meditation and the positive influence these have upon my life and the lives of those around me. I have gained awareness of my breath and body and join the two for powerful movement, strength, flexibility and balance. I hope to share this wisdom with our community through a variety of classes at Soulshine!
Choosing to attend the 200-hour teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center last year, gifted me with the knowledge, confidence and desire to blend yoga into the healing work I have done for years as a dedicated and loving massage therapist. I open my heart and my studio to this community I have loved for years and promise to do my absolute best to serve the greater good for us all! Please come and open yourself to the benefits of yoga!
