Saluda Summer Sundays: Rene Russell

R. Rene Russell is a Charleston musician who settled in the mountains of WNC. Rene provides a show that looks at the journey of her life. Playing mostly originals, she flushes out a three-hour show with favorite cover tunes. Her “My Journey So Far Through My Song Titles,” reveals the path she has taken to find herself. With songs entitled “Once Upon A New Time,” “Who We Really Are” and “Choices,” her songs have allowed her to question her values, beliefs and spirituality while searching for that “Spec of Truth, The Key” that will unlock and reveal her soul’s purpose. Rene enthralls her audiences with her percussive 12-string way of playing music and her bass style thumping, claw-hammer pulling, finger-picking techniques.
