The Saluda Historic Depot preserves the railroad story that helped shape this mountain community. Inside the museum, historic photographs, artifacts, and firsthand accounts explore the Saluda Grade, regional railroad history, and the people who lived and worked along the rails. The Saluda Grade crests in Saluda and is recognized as the country’s steepest mainline, standard-gauge railroad.

Open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., April through December, the museum offers free admission. Visitors can also attend Saluda Train Tales on the third Friday of each month at 7 p.m. This free program shares stories about Saluda’s local railroad history.

Admission is free, and voluntary donations are appreciated. The Saluda Historic Depot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
