Train Tales: Interview with a Hobo

The August 21^st Train Tales will feature docent speakers “Hobo” David O’Brien and Nita High in a lively discussion of the history of hobos in the United States. From the famous Ernest Hemingway, Jack London, Carl Sandburg, Clark Gable to ordinary desperate men and women, hobos have been riding the rails since the end of the Civil War. The word Hobo was likely derived from the phrase “hoe boys”, who were iterant farm workers around the turn of the 20^th century. Hobo history, culture, language, code and artwork will be discussed.

The program begins at 7:00 PM and doors will open at 6:30. The program is free. Join us!
